Reiki

Throughout the history of mankind healing methods have always existed which were based on the transfer of universal, all pervading energy, the same energy, which brings forth all life in the universe and nourishes it.

Reiki is a generic word in Japan, and is used to describe any type of healing work based on life force energy. It was Mikao Usui in the mid 20th century who reintroduced this ancient healing system in Japan, and now it has become increasingly widespread all around the world.

Reiki is a completely natural healing method, accelerating the body, mind and spirit's healing process.  Reiki healing sessions naturally encourage holistic health and well-being, balance, purpose and spiritual harmony in yourself and others.

Reiki energy is directly connected to the source of our universe and our being, and so is completely linked with Universal Intelligence.  This intelligence allows it to focus on the most needed areas of healing completely automatically, thereby suiting the needs of the receiver in the very best way.

The word Reiki can be broken down into two component parts of "Rei" (pronounced 'ray') and "Ki" (pronounced 'key'). "Rei" literally means spirit, ghost, soul, in the heavens or of spirits; but also denotes universal energy. "Ki" also means spirit and, some argue, is essentially the Japanese equivalent of the Chinese description of "Chi", which means life force energy.

The word Reiki, therefore, can be taken to refer to a balanced universal life force energy. Because of its qualities it seems to have a basic consciousness which, when used for healing, is able to provide exactly what is needed on all levels.

The closer we approach the basic form of this universal energy of life, the more comprehensive and effective it will become and the easier it will be to use.

The Usui system of Reiki not only the most simple and natural healing method we know of, but it is also the most effective way of transferring this universal life energy. Once a person has been opened up to become a channel for Reiki, the energy flows through his hands of its own accord and he will retain this ability for the rest of his life.

Reiki is above all holistic in effect. It reaches all levels of existence and strives to bring these differing levels into a state of balance. The therapist is only a channel for this energy, for it is not his own, limited energy which passes through him when he lays his hands on a person, but rather a universal one, which leaves him strengthened and harmonized afterwards.

Reiki also makes its own way to the area of the body in need of treatment. It is endowed with a greater wisdom than our own, for it seems to know where and how and to what extent a patient needs without our being able to add to or subtract from the effect it produces.

Reiki has nothing to do with spiritualism or the occult in any shape or form. It has nothing to do with calling up of ghosts or demons, nor is it concerned with hypnosis or any kind of psychological technique. By giving Reiki one does not become a "magician" or "psycho conjurer." In Reiki treatment, use is made solely of a neutral but a concentrated form of cosmic energy.
